New York:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan's full backing for the Global Development Initiative (GDI) during a high-level meeting in New York. The meeting was hosted by Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the GDI as a platform for solidarity and South-South Cooperation, which aims to deliver tangible outcomes for developing countries.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that the goals of the GDI align with Pakistan's national economic transformation plan. He highlighted ongoing cooperation with China through the Belt and Road Initiative, specifically mentioning that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is progressing into its second phase.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of the GDI in advancing the 2030 agenda. He expressed Pakistan's eagerness for continued collaboration with China and other members of the Group of Friends to promote the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
