World should take steps to resolve climate issues: Shazia

Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri has urged the world community to take some serious steps for resolving climate issues.

She was addressing the ongoing 26th Socialist International Congress in Madrid, Spain.

The Minister said due to climate change, 33 million people have been affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan this year and 650 thousand pregnant women and 4 million children have been severely affected by worst rains and floods.

She said climate change poses the biggest threat to the planet and humans and the recent rains and floods in Pakistan are the latest example of the ravages of climate change.

The Minister expressed hope that some measures will be taken seriously by the international community in the context of climate change to avoid its destruction in the future.
