Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Gwadar International Airport will not only benefit the economy of Balochistan, but the entire country. Presiding over the Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said the Gwadar International Airport, constructed with a $230 million Chinese grant, is a gift for Pakistan from China and should be honored. The start of flight operations from Gwadar International Airport is also welcoming, he noted.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that those involved in the killings in Balochistan are not only against Balochistan but are enemies of Pakistan. He emphasized that creating hurdles in the completion of Gwadar Port is also an act of animosity towards Pakistan and that the country’s enemies do not want the operationalization of the Gwadar Port.
The Prime Minister highlighted a record increase in IT exports, noting that witnessing an increase of $348 million in December last year is a positive development. He encouraged further focus on boosting IT exports. The government is also concentrating on promoting electric vehicles in the country and is taking several steps to support this initiative.
Shehbaz Sharif mentioned the World Bank’s commitment to provide $20 billion under the Country Partnership Framework over the next ten years to support inclusive and sustainable development. This investment will be made in various social sectors of the country. He stated that all economic indicators are showing a positive trajectory, which reflects the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy.
Furthermore, the government is making significant efforts to provide the best facilities to Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj this year. The Prime Minister expressed high regard for the armed forces and the people of Pakistan for their sacrifices in eliminating Fitna-al-Khwarij from the country.
