Pakistan High Commissioner in Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof has said that we are closely monitoring the evolving situation in Bangladesh and safety of Pakistani citizens is our foremost priority. In view of the countrywide protests of the Bangladeshi students, the Pakistani High Commissioner said we are in constant contact with our citizens, especially students. The High Commissioner said we are also in touch with Bangladeshi authorities. He asked the Pakistani students to remain vigilant of the changing situation. As soon as the situation started to deteriorate, the students were asked to reach the High Commission immediately. Syed Ahmed Maroof said Pakistani students have been asked to stay confined to their rooms and keep themselves away from the current situation. He said one-third of the 144 students studying in Bangladesh have already reached Pakistan, while a few more students are leaving for Pakistan nowadays. The Envoy said some of the students who remained in Bangladesh have reached the High Comm ission. He said the High Commission is in constant touch with the students and will continue to take all possible measures to ensure their safety. Source: Radio Pakistan
