Pakistan Navy Assumes Command of Combined Task Force-151 for 11th Time


Islamabad: Pakistan Navy has taken over command of the Multinational Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) at a Change of Command ceremony held at the Combined Maritime Headquarters in Bahrain. Pakistan Navy Commodore Sohail Azmie has been appointed as the new commander of the force, succeeding Turkiye.



According to Radio Pakistan, Commodore Sohail Azmie, during his address at the ceremony, emphasized Pakistan Navy’s commitment to collaborating with naval forces from other countries to establish peace and security in the region. He highlighted the navy’s active participation in the Combined Maritime Forces’ (CMF) maritime security efforts as a reflection of this commitment.



Commodore Azmie also extended his appreciation and congratulations to the outgoing Commander, Rear Admiral Rustu Sezer, and his team for their dedicated efforts in achieving the objectives during their tenure. Pakistan Navy holds the unique distinction of commanding CTF-151 for the eleventh time. Additionally, in July of the previous year, Pakistan Navy assumed command of CTF-150 for the thirteenth time, showcasing its dedication to maritime peace and stability in the region and the trust placed in it by partner nations.



The mission of CTF-151 is to counter terrorism and suppress piracy at sea.
