Pakistan and Iran Vow to Explore New Trade Routes

Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have underscored the shared commitment to enhance port-to-port cooperation and explore new trade routes in the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf. The commitment was expressed at a meeting between Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, and Iran's Minister for Roads and Urban Development, Farzaneh Sadegh, in Islamabad. According to Radio Pakistan, Junaid Chaudhry proposed the launch of a ferry service between Pakistan and Iran, suggesting it would provide an affordable and efficient transport alternative for both pilgrims and traders. The Minister also informed about plans to introduce a centralized pilgrim management policy starting next year. On her part, the Iranian Minister stated that Islamabad and Tehran can open new horizons for regional trade and economic prosperity by improving maritime and transport connectivity.
