Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will continue to play its vital role in promoting lasting peace in the region. During delegation-level talks with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian held in Islamabad, Sharif emphasized the brotherly bond shared between Pakistan and Iran, assuring that Islamabad would always support Tehran in the spirit of true brotherhood.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif praised the resilience of the Iranian people and their leadership amidst crises. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which resulted in a ceasefire and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump. Sharif noted that he had signed the MoU in his capacity as a mediator.
The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Trkiye, and Egypt for their roles in the peace process. He expressed his delight in welcoming the Iranian President and his delegation to Pakistan, underscoring the importance of their visit.
Sharif further reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran, covering all areas such as economic cooperation, trade, investment, and reconstruction. He stated that Pakistan and Iran would work collaboratively for mutual benefit by leveraging their respective strengths, aiming to jointly promote peace, stability, and prosperity not only in their region but also across the Middle East, Gulf, and South Asia.
