Chattogram: Pakistan and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace and stability in the region. This resolve was expressed during the visit of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf to Bangladesh alongside the port visit of PNS SAIF at Chattogram.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the visit, the Naval Chief held meetings with Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hassan. Discussions focused on matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security, and ways to enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf also visited the National Defence College Bangladesh, where he interacted with the President of the college and faculty members and received a detailed briefing on the institution’s mandate and programs. In Chattogram, the Naval Chief was called on by the Commander Chattogram, Commander Bangladesh Navy Fleet, and Area Superintendent Dockyard.
He further visited the Bangladesh Naval Academy, met with the Commandant and faculty, and appreciated the Academy’s professional standards. He emphasized academic excellence, collaborative training, and the need for advanced naval education in the evolving maritime environment.
A reception onboard PNS SAIF at Chattogram was also hosted by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, which was attended by Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Bangladesh Navy, Pakistan’s High Commissioner, diplomats, senior military officials, scholars, journalists, and business leaders. The event highlighted the commitment to peaceful cooperation in the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean Region.
