In Balochistan, the government is focusing on construction of big dams to enhance water storage capacity and promote agriculture sector.
Among the largest dams constructed so far include Wali Tangi Dam in Urak Valley, Hub Dam in Lasbela, Mirani Dam in Kech District and Sabakzai Dam in Zhob District.
keeping in view the water problem, the government started work on a comprehensive project for Balochistan in 2009, comprising one hundred dams, which is fast-tracked and will be completed in five phases.
Apart from these, more projects for storing water are also under consideration. The construction these dams will not only strengthen the agriculture sector in Balochistan but will play an important role in providing clean water and raising the underground water level.
