Islamic scholars of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have agreed to forge unity and avoid provocation to maintain peace and harmony during Muharram. This understanding was reached at a meeting of the Ulema of different sects, hailing from the twin cities, in Islamabad today. It was agreed that the Ulema will remain united in all matters pertaining to the national unity and cohesion. The meeting also decided to constitute a core committee, having representation of all sects with one each member from the ministries of the Interior and the Religious Affairs, to ensure close coordination during Muharram.
