Islamabad: The Ministry of Energy, Power Division, has officially launched Pakistan's first National Power Sector Innovation Programme, with the Innovation Hub serving as the programme's dedicated digital platform. Speaking at the launch, Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari emphasized that the programme is not merely a competition but the first national institutional framework of its kind for the power sector, aimed at fostering innovative ideas and transforming them into practical solutions.
According to Radio Pakistan, the programme invites young Pakistanis to participate and propose innovative ideas to tackle the challenges facing the country's power sector. Over the next three years, more than one billion rupees will be allocated for mentorship, technical assistance, pilot implementation, and scaling of successful innovations. The initiative seeks to identify, evaluate, mentor, and support promising ideas, transforming innovative concepts and research into tested and scalable solutions that can contribute to a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable power sector.
Through the Innovation Hub digital platform, aspiring innovators, students, researchers, startups, and young professionals can submit their ideas and become part of a national effort to shape the future of energy in Pakistan. The programme also provides a pathway for promising ideas to progress from concepts and research to mentorship, technical support, pilot implementation, and national-scale deployment.
