Govt Asserts Commitment to Press Freedom, Congratulates Lahore Press Club Leadership


LAHORE: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to freedom of speech and press, while congratulating the newly elected leadership of the Lahore Press Club. Tarar emphasized the critical role of the press in fostering democratic values and the rule of law.



According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is dedicated to implementing measures that support journalists’ welfare. He highlighted the significant contributions of Lahore’s journalist community in promoting democracy and hoped the new officials would continue their efforts to advance journalists’ interests.



The Minister underscored the administration’s belief in the fundamental right to freedom of expression, aligning it with the government’s broader democratic objectives. He conveyed optimism that the newly elected body of the Lahore Press Club would uphold its tradition of advocating for journalists’ welfare, reflecting the government’s priorities in supporting a free and independent press.
