Death anniversary ceremony of Maharaja Ranjit Singh held in Lahore


The 185th death anniversary ceremony of Maharaja Ranjit Singh was held at Gurdwara Shri Dera Sahib in Lahore today.

The ceremony presided over by the Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and the Chairman of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, was attended by Indian Sikh pilgrims as well as by Sikh followers from across Pakistan.

During the ceremony, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan ensures the rights of minorities in accordance with Islamic teachings, and that the contributions of non-Muslims living in Pakistan to the country’s development cannot be overlooked.

He said all minorities have ample opportunities to progress in various fields, including religious freedom.

Expressing their feelings, the Indian Sikh pilgrims said Pakistan is also a sacred land for them from a religious perspective. They described the satisfaction they felt after visiting Pakistan as indescribable.
