Islamabad: Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has clarified that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is not imposing fines on heavy traffic vehicles in the Federal Capital. During a session in the Senate’s Question Hour, he stated that the CDA does not have the authority to impose such fines, as the responsibility lies with the Islamabad Traffic Police.
According to Radio Pakistan, Azam Nazeer Tarar also addressed concerns regarding the removal or cutting of trees in Islamabad. He explained that the CDA follows a specified procedure, allowing tree removal only for executing mega projects or addressing pollen allergy issues, with the condition that each removed tree is replaced by planting three new ones. Additionally, he mentioned that the CDA has started a practice of transferring or relocating trees to preserve them.
The Senate session concluded with the announcement that the House will reconvene on Monday at 04:00 pm.
