Islamabad:Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has expressed regret over the lack of action by the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against terrorism, accusing it of having no intention to address the issue.
According to Radio Pakistan, during a news conference held in Islamabad, Tarar, alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, accused the PTI leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of acting as an ally to the TTP. He claimed that the provincial government facilitated terrorists for its political and financial gains.
Tarar further criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not incorporating non-customs-paid vehicles into the legal framework, suggesting these vehicles are used in terrorist activities. He demanded transparency regarding the use of resources allocated for counter-terrorism efforts in the province.
He reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to eradicating terrorism, while also criticizing the PTI for the lack of healthcare services in the province, leading residents to seek medical treatment elsewhere despite the party's prolonged governance.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that Afghan nationals have been involved in terrorist incidents in Pakistan and lamented PTI's failure to condemn Afghanistan on this matter. He also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for not empowering the police adequately to combat terrorism and highlighted the restrictions imposed on police powers under the KP Police Act, 2026.
