Analysts Hail PM Shehbaz’s Call for Early Finalization of National Industrial Policy

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's initiative to expedite the finalization of a national industrial policy has been positively received by analysts. They believe that this move is crucial for the economic development of Pakistan and could help streamline bureaucratic processes that have historically hindered investment. According to Radio Pakistan, Dr. Abid Gill, an economist, expressed confidence in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's ability to execute projects effectively, citing his track record as Chief Minister of Punjab. Dr. Gill emphasized that industrial growth not only boosts the agricultural sector's output prices and increases income levels but also significantly contributes to national revenue. He highlighted that a well-implemented industrial policy could enhance exports, thereby reducing the current account deficit. Dr. Noor Fatima pointed out that the country's large-scale manufacturing sector is currently underperforming, as per budgetary proposals and the economic survey of Pakistan. S he stressed the need to revitalize the national industrial policy, a directive given by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure collaboration among various departments. The government's focus on promoting export-led sectors aims to boost foreign exchange earnings, necessitating improved performance from the industrial sector.
