AIIB Shows Interest in Future Energy Investments in Pakistan.

Islamabad: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed interest in exploring future investments in Pakistan's energy transmission sector. This interest was highlighted by AIIB Vice President Konstantin Limitovskiy during a meeting with Pakistan's Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Khan Cheema, in Islamabad. The discussions focused on the bank's current projects, its future project pipeline, and potential new financing initiatives in the country. According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister expressed appreciation for AIIB's consistent support, especially during the 2022 floods. He praised the bank's ongoing investments in Pakistan and suggested that AIIB enhance its senior-level presence in the country as investment volumes increase. The Minister also acknowledged AIIB's dedication to the Project Preparation Special Fund aimed at improving and widening the N-5 Project. During the meeting, Pakistan's priorities for regional connectivity and economic growth were underscored, with the Mi nister emphasizing the nation's high regard for AIIB's support in infrastructure development. He urged the bank to consider financing the Sukkur-Hyderabad section of the Karachi-Peshawar Motorway (M-6), which would complete the motorway network from Karachi to Peshawar. AIIB's Vice President expressed confidence in the Economic Affairs Division's project review process and anticipated the timely resolution of outstanding project issues. He reaffirmed AIIB's commitment to prioritizing the N-5 Project, indicating a strong future partnership with Pakistan in infrastructure investment.
