Abbott Representative Discusses Hepatitis C Program with Finance Minister

Islamabad:A representative from Abbott's Pharmaceuticals Division recently met with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in New York to discuss Pakistan's Hepatitis C elimination programme and broader pharmaceutical sector issues. According to Radio Pakistan, the Finance Minister expressed concerns about the slow progress of the Hepatitis C programme. He noted that out of the approximately three million procured diagnostic tests, only around one hundred thousand had been utilized. This underutilization was attributed to leadership turnover, inadequate project management, and limited public awareness. The Finance Minister emphasized the need for accelerated implementation of the programme to improve its effectiveness.
