Death Anniversary of Akhlaq Ahmed Observed

Islamabad: The 27th death anniversary of renowned playback singer Akhlaq Ahmed was observed on Tuesday. He was born in Delhi in 1940 and migrated to Pakistan in 1947 when his family settled in Karachi. According to Radio Pakistan, Akhlaq Ahmed started his singing career in 1973 with the film 'Pazeb' and earned fame as a popular playback singer in the 1970s and 1980s. His super-hit songs included 'Sona Na Chandi Na Koi Mehal' from the film Bandish, 'Sawan Aye Sawan Jaye' from Chahat, 'Ay Dil Apna Dard Chhupa' from Rishta, and 'Hum Ko Kis Ke Gham Ne Maara' from Basera. Akhlaq Ahmed sang nearly 117 songs in 86 films from 1973 to 1998. He passed away on this day in 1999 in London.
