PM and Swiss Vice President Discuss Bilateral Cooperation in Key Sectors

Islamabad: Vice President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the ongoing technical-level talks between the US and Iran at Burgenstock, Switzerland today. The Swiss Foreign Minister appreciated the mediation role played by Pakistan in steering the negotiation process that led to the signing of the Islamabad MoU between Iran and the United States.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ignazio Cassis expressed Switzerland's willingness to contribute and assist the follow-up process of the Islamabad MoU. The Prime Minister thanked the Swiss side and affirmed that successful implementation of the Islamabad MoU will lead to regional peace and global economic stability. He also appreciated the sustained Swiss investment in Pakistan and expressed hope that Swiss companies would further enhance their investments in the country.

Shehbaz Sharif offered Pakistan's assistance of highly skilled IT and cyber security experts to meet Switzerland's growing demand in these sectors. The two sides discussed the possibility of enhancing cooperation in mutually beneficial sectors such as pharmaceuticals, tourism, and climate change and disaster risk reduction. Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to the Swiss Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan.
