NEOC Issues Severe Weather Advisory; Multiple Systems to Impact Country

Islamabad: The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) has issued an urgent advisory warning of multiple active weather systems set to impact various regions of the country over the next 24 hours. It says Islamabad and Rawalpindi are at particular risk as two weather systems are expected to merge, potentially bringing strong winds and intense rainfall tonight. According to Radio Pakistan, severe weather conditions have also been forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North and South Eastern Punjab, including hailstorms, windstorms, and heavy rain. In Southern Punjab, particularly Rohi and Rahim Yar Khan, a slow-moving system is likely to bring moderate but prolonged rainfall. Areas from Peshawar to Parachinar may experience thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and heavy downpours. Rain and storm activity is also expected in Muzaffarabad and the Neelum Valley. Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly and flood-prone areas. Residents are urged to secure weak st ructures, trees, power lines, and solar panels. Motorists are advised to park vehicles in safe, covered locations. Farmers are being cautioned to take protective measures to shield crops from possible hail and wind damage. Tourists and travelers are also advised to exercise extreme caution during this period of unstable weather.
