ICT Exports Witness 28% Increase: NA Informed

Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed today that there has been a twenty-eight percent increase in Information and Computer Technology exports in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja shared this information with the House during the Question Hour, attributing the rise in exports to the increased internet usage and speed in the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, Minister Khawaja highlighted that VPNs and Whatsapp remain fully functional, contributing to the positive trend. She also mentioned that comprehensive efforts are underway to enhance the overall internet experience across the nation.

Additionally, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Ahmad Atteeq Anwer informed the House about the ongoing national flagship initiative, the Up-scaling of Green Pakistan Programme. This initiative aims to plant 3.29 billion trees by 2028, with 2.2 billion plants already distributed and planted since 2019. Nationwide plantation campaigns are organized annually during the spring and monsoon seasons under this program.

The Parliamentary Secretary further noted that the government is contemplating the establishment of a new climate finance governance framework. This framework is intended to streamline processes and improve access to climate finance, ensuring better management and utilization of resources.

The House has now been adjourned to reconvene on Monday at five pm.
